StarCraft improved upon its predecessor Warcraft II, which featured two very similar playable factions, by introducing asymmetry between the models and systems accessible to its 3 races (Protoss, Terran, and Zerg). This asymmetry was much like that pioneered within the lesser-known 1996 SSI launch War Wind. The device sorts available to Every race define its racial id.
